In this video tutorial you’ll learn how to use MapsAlive software to create a simple interactive map.
When you create a new MapsAlive account, you’ll see step-by-step instructions for creating your first interactive map, called a tour in MapsAlive. In this video we’ll follow these steps.
The first step is to choose New > Tour from the menu.
We’ll accept the default tour name and tour type and press Create Tour.
We’ll also accept the default map name and press Create Map to upload a map image.
For this video we’ll use a stylized map image of the western United States.
Now that the map is uploaded, the instructions say to add a hotspot by clicking the Add New Hotspot icon in the Tour Navigator.
We’ll set hotspot title to the name of the sales rep for Arizona.
Now we’ll choose a large teardrop marker to mark the hotspot locations on the map.
Finally we’ll choose a photo of Jayne and upload it.
The instructions are prompting us to add a second hotspot. We’ll give it a title and upload another photo.
When you have two hotspots, the instructions say you can place them on the map. To do that click the Map Editor icon.
The Map Editor lets you choose hotspots using the thumbnails below the map or from the dropdown list above the map.
When you choose a hotspot, its marker drops onto the center of the map and you can drag it into position.
Now that we have markers for both hotspots, let’s preview the tour.
Mouse over the two markers and you’ll see the images we uploaded displayed in popups.
That’s all there is to creating a simple interactive map.
